Coco's Alpha is now open to read and self-host. The repository is published under the PolyForm Noncommercial license, alongside an install skill for people new to Claude Code. If you would rather run your own copy than subscribe, you can — the whole personal admin is there to inspect, learn from, and build on for noncommercial use.

We rewrote the "Is it safe?" section to name the actual permissions Coco asks Google for, rather than a softer "read-only" framing. The consent screen is broad because Google's scopes are all-or-nothing, so the site now says so plainly and explains how Coco uses each one. You should know exactly what you are granting before you click.

The marketing-site screenshots were refreshed so they read as what Coco actually is — a personal admin for the parent juggling school flyers, family logistics, and a full inbox, not a corporate assistant in a suit. The product never changed; the pictures now match the life it is built for.

Newsletter synthesis is steadier, so the digest of what your subscriptions are saying holds together more reliably day to day. We also fixed a hydration glitch that could show the wrong timezone in the masthead greeting, so "good morning" now lands at the right hour for you.

Coco moved to its own domain with SSL and a real verification path with Google for the OAuth sign-in screen. In practice this means a calmer, more trustworthy sign-in: fewer scary warnings, a verified name on the consent screen, and a stable home for everything you read here.

Coco now remembers durable topics that span many emails and weeks, instead of treating each message as a one-off. A school enrollment, a contractor quote, an ongoing thread with a vendor — Coco carries the thread forward so your brief reflects the whole story, not just today's fragment. The longer you use it, the sharper it gets.

Image-only emails — the school flyer, the event poster, the screenshot with all the details baked into a picture — are now read and folded into your brief. Coco looks at the image, pulls out the dates and details, and surfaces them like any other item, so the important PTA notice no longer slips through just because it arrived as a JPEG.

Before the Alpha
Everything above sits on a long stretch of quieter work: the daily brief, drafted replies you approve before anything sends, calendar additions, chat, iMessage, and the privacy model that keeps your data on your own infrastructure. None of it made a splash on its own, but together it is what made the Alpha public release possible.
